our history

Ristorante Enoteca Bacco D’Oro was born in 1974 by Elios and Tecla Zara. Today, Mario Zara, professional sommelier, with his wife Martina are carrying out this exceptional Villa fully refurbished in 2019.

In the Mezzane Valley, a welcoming cypress-lined avenue leads to the renowned “Bacco
d’Oro” Restaurant, located in an 18th century manor house within the walls of an old
convent.
The location is immersed in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoys a splendid terrace from which
you can admire the splendid view of the Mezzane’s hills. The terrace and garden are perfect
for hosting large events and weddings.
The beautifully consecrated church completes the scenery by giving nobility to the
environment. The oratory dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the entablature above
the door quotes the inscription: “SS. COR DI IESU A.D. MDCCCLXXXI “.
Its architecture is a pseudo-Romanesque style; it was built by Girolamo Schiavoni and by the Veronese architect Spolverini.
Above the simple altar, in three niches, are placed modern paintings; in the central we see the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the left the Blessed Virgin and in the right St. Joseph. In the wall of the small presbytery, on the left side, there is a plaque a thanking for the return of the inhabitants of the district who had participated in the war conflict of 1915-18; it was placed on April 20, 1920. In the one located on the right side, the indulgences granted by the bishops of Verona, Card. Luigi di Canossa in his visit on August 23, 1882, and that of Card. Bacilieri, on September 17, 1907, are remembered.
